Stockholm, Sweden – March 4th 2009 - Transmode, a leading provider of Optical Networking Solutions, posted increased revenues and sharply improved profitability in 2008. Healthy demand and a series of new customers in markets such as North America, Benelux and Eastern Europe boosted growth.

Transmode’s revenues for the full year 2008 improved significantly, to SEK 607 m. This is a 32% increase over the SEK 461 m recorded in 2007.

EBITDA for 2008 was SEK 117 m, excluding non-recurring expenses of SEK 1.7 m (2.6), which is a sharp increase over the SEK 32 m posted for 2007.

The revenue gains were due to sustained progress in established markets in combination with expansion in growth markets, including North America, Asia and Eastern Europe.

“Our long term view of the market is still positive. Basic demand for metro WDM products remains strong as operators build out to meet the ever-growing bandwidth demands of residential, business and mobile networks,” commented Transmode’s CEO Karl Thedéen.

Video-related services are the main driver of growth in bandwidth demand in both fixed and mobile networks. The introduction of high definition video fuels that demand and puts new requirements on the build-out of cable, multi-service and broadband networks.

“With our focus on providing our customers with tailor-made and cost-efficient solutions, we have continued to grow and take market share in 2008. Our success in the cable TV segment has been one important contributor in reaching those objectives.” said Karl Thedéen. “Regarding 2009, we are taking a more cautious view due to the wider economic environment and have reviewed our cost structure in line with this. We will also continue to invest in new products and new markets such as North America and Asia.” he continued.
